Childrens
Children’s
know days are exposed to very violent media and parents don’t control it. All
parents should pay really close attention to their children’s, because as they
grow up they start learning from what they see. Anything that is showed on
television has something to do with violence. Children’s try to imitate
everything they see like those violent video games.
For
example if children’s have a fake gun in which they play they try to do the
same thing that they do in the video games, trying to kill the opponents and
everything that is on their way. Even though we might see this as a joke, it is
true that people start little by little and if we see that why don’t we put a
stop on it? We will see the kind of effects it has when childrens start to get
in trouble or problems because they will react violently.
The
academy of pediatrics says that if children’s think that violence is normal,
they can easily become offenders of victims. There have been several terrible
incidents in the news where people kill or hit other people. In the research
done of the aggressors they say that they have been exposed to violence and
that they like to play video games, computer games, television, etc.
Video Games:
show and almost teach people what to do for example in this research they
talked about grand theft auto and that it’s all about violence, killing,
stealing, prostitution.
Movies: The
movie Matrix talks and teaches people about being violent towards others by
being “The One”.
Television:
If we pay attention to the type of announcements, shows, cartoons, we see some
kind of violence.
Parents
should get more involved with their children’s.
Playing video games, watching television, reading, doing homework
sometimes parents do not see everything that their children’s/ teens are doing.
They realize that they should of have paid more attention to them when they
were young but sometimes it is too late to try to change the young adults
ideas.
Researchers
James B.
Warner III and Dolf Zillmann made a research to see if college students that
were exposed to violence in the media could have a negative impact on their
daily life.
At first researchers
tested the “Primary Personality trait” of the 93 students (53 males and 40
females). Students did not know that they were getting researched about their
reactions towards different violent as well as nonviolent situations, and how
it reflected in their daily life.
The study
consisted of two parts one was called “video rental study” and the other one
was to help a professor decide if a new assistant should get financial
assistance.
In the first
part of the study the students had to watch 5 violent films and the others 5 nonviolent.
Researchers wanted to see what kind of impact it had on the college students.
In the second part they were to help a professor decide whether to help
financially the new assistant or not. Weaver and Zillemann were amazed on how
people that watched violent media
Both
researchers were amazed on how watching violent films increased students to
react violently into different situations. They even said that the assistant
should not get financial assistance even though that did not have nothing to do
with them.
in my opinion!
Watching
violent media increases the hostile manner that people have. Violent media does
don’t have a positive effect on people. People should try to avoid it. If by
watching only 5 violent videos a week made students react violently, then
imagine how it’s going to be if it becomes a daily routine to watch violent
media.
